As much as didactics are foundationally important for every physical therapist, when I was looking at programs I looked for opportunities to receive mentorship in the clinical setting. With regards to clinical affiliation, I’m learning that the learning experience is based on my attitude and the clinical instructor I am assigned to.
NYU DPT does a great job in providing these Master Clinician Observations where the students are paired with a specific clinician in the city that take us under their wing and teach us clinical reasoning gems that we might not necessarily receive during our clinical affiliations.
